The ash-throated flycatcher (Myiarchus cinerascens) is a passerine bird in the tyrant flycatcher family. It breeds in desert scrub, riparian forest, brushy pastures and open woodland from the western United States to central Mexico.

Fine, clear morning, cold (60) and a little windy. Drove down to the farm site and set up the tripod and then discovered that I hadn’t brought the little three legged stool that I use. Few birds, so I didn’t stay long. Returned home to pick up the stool and decided to go to the beach lagoon site.

Still dusting off some 120 three inch CD discs. The Sony Mavica wrote the 3Meg .jpg files directly onto the disc . These photos were taken in Jan 2002. I was on my first safari as a birthday present to me. I have returned once again in the same month in 2007. Enjoy these archive photos.

These bird shots were taken on my Sony Mavica …. state of the art in 2002. Zoom to 10X, 3Meg resolution, 1 photo every 20 seconds. Compare with my Panasonic Lumix 70 … Zoom max 120X, 16M resolution, 12 photos per second.
